ABOUT US
The Scotland Neck Education and Recreation Foundation, Inc. (SNERF) was established February 3, 1997. The mission of the Foundation is to promote and improve recreation, social education and the welfare of the citizens of Scotland Neck and surrounding areas. We strive to achieve this mission by providing opportunities for youth of all ages to utilize recreational resources.

Activities at the center are offered free to school-aged children between the ages of 6 – 13. The center operates Monday through Friday from the hours of 3:00 to 6:00.
Academic Assistance
This foundation operates an after-school program and summer program where volunteers help tutor students with curriculum challenges and guidance with homework assignments. This includes access to educational media, including computers with Internet access and printers.

Social Development
Projects are structured to empower children to choose a better lifestyle by building self-esteem developing decision-making skills and life skills (home economics), learning how to work with other children and learning how to resolve conflicts. Kids are exposed to information about drugs, alcohol, tobacco usage, teen pregnancy and other issues that can hinder they physical, economical and social well-being.

Physical Recreation
Organized and independent use of the basketball courts is encouraged. It is the goal of the Foundation to promote sports programs that will enhance team activities, such as basketball clinics and team competition. The objective of the sports’ program is to increase community active participation.
